Obituary

The defining moment in the life of Thomas Peachey (Sr) was the moment he was gloriously saved by grace in the spring of 1968. It radically changed his life direction, values, and purpose, causing him to move his young family across a continent to pursue biblical education and follow God’s calling into a life of ministry. His testimony was that he only found true freedom, joy, and peace when he stopped seeking them through trying to be good enough or by just choosing what pleased himself. Tom lived to help people find that freedom through God’s gift of grace, resting secure in the confidence of God’s complete and full forgiveness, and knowing that a place awaits in God’s presence after this life for those who place their faith in Christ alone. Those truths bring us peace and even joy as a family in this time of loss.

Thomas (Hun) Peachey (Sr) was born in Belleville, PA, the middle child and only son of Vesta (Hartzler) and Thomas E (Tip) Peachey. He was known by his children and grandchildren for his skill in fixing just about anything, and for his strength, both physically and in character. One of the ways Tom expressed the joy of his salvation and his love for God was through his enjoyment of southern gospel and bluegrass music.

Together with his wife Faith, Tom served God and His people as the pastor or interim pastor in Belgrove, Spirit River, in Three Hills at Prairie Tabernacle, and Bethel Fellowship Church, Eaglesham, Chetwynd, Tofield, Fairview, Michigan, and Humboldt, SK.

Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Faith (nee Longacre) Peachey; his two sisters, Virginia Spicher and Ruthie Emswiler; as well as his three children, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Prairie College, the institution that Tom graduated from in 1974 here in Three Hills, AB.

The Peachey Memorial Scholarship will be given to a student in need of financial assistance who is enrolled in the Pastoral leadership course who has the intention to study God’s Word diligently at Prairie College and then enter full time pastoral work.

Contributions are tax deductible. The Peachey family thanks you in advance for your generosity in this matter.
