IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shoko
Ichikawa
October 26, 1932 – December 13, 2025
Shoko Ichikawa passed away on December 13, 2025, at St. Mary’s Health Care Center in Trochu, Alberta.
Shoko was born on October 26, 1932, in Hiroshima, Japan. Her life was dramatically changed after the atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima during WWII. She moved to Niigata, Japan, to live with her older sister, who introduced her to a missionary who later became her husband. Several years after Shoko became a missionary wife, she immigrated to Canada and made a home in Three Hills, Alberta. She continued to participate in church and mission events and appreciated the sense of community Three Hills had to offer. Her faith and dedication to prayer guided her steps through her life’s journey.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Christina and Julia (Sean); her grandson, Tyler; and her sister, Meiko, as well as nieces and other relatives in Japan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ben Ichikawa; her son-in-law, Neil; her four siblings; and her parents.
