Obituary

Ruth Leischner went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Ruth was born January 26, 1938, to Albert and Katherine Ritz in Leader, Saskatchewan. Ruth is survived by her husband, Ray; her three children, Katherine, Korrine, and Kevin; her brothers, Harvey, Wayne, Keith and Dennis; and was predeceased by her parents and sister, Doreen.

Ruth attended Prairie High School and Bible Institute, where she completed her high school diploma and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She would remain in Three Hills, AB, after graduation and worked briefly at the college before moving to Calgary, AB. Ruth would always look back at her time at Prairie with great fondness.

While in Three Hills, Ruth met and married Raymond Leischner on August 18, 1962. Together they lived in Calgary, Three Hills and Torrington, AB, before settling on the farm west of Torrington that would become the family home for many years. They had three children, Katherine (Koop), Korinne (Beitzel) and Kevin; 10 grandchildren, James Beitzel, Raymond Beitzel, Ben Beitzel, Celeste Beitzel, Micheal Beitzel, Ryan Koop, Kaitlin Dietz (Koop), Jessie Leischner and Jamie Leischner; 3 great-grandchildren, Watson Koop, Cara-Lee Koop and Nathan Dietz.

Over the years, Ruth worked as a secretary and administrative assistant at Pioneer Grain Elevators, Mobile Oil, The Olds Hospital and several chiropractors in the Olds, AB, area. Her most important job was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family, and she loved to spend time with each of them right up to the very end.
