Ruth Carrie (Moore) D'Arcy It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Ruth Carrie D'Arcy. Ruth was born in Drumheller, Alberta on March 24, 1931 to Herbert and Lillian Moore. Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, her children and families - Norman (Kathy); Travis, Derek (Lisa), Declan, Carver: Charlotte (Brian); Lisa (Jeremy), Kevin (fiance Brittany); Ella: Oscar (Betty); Ashley: Dale (Denise); Amanda, Shane: Bruce (Tanya). Ruth leaves two sisters Louise and Florence, sister-in-law's Doris and Josie and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Jim (1925-2013), infant daughter Carrie, her parents - Herbert and Lillian, and step father Charles, brothers Raymond (Lorraine), Fred (Irene), Clarence and Don, sister Helen (Gordon/Carl) and brothers-in-law Charles and Fern. Ruth lived in many places throughout her early years including Rumsey, Vancouver, San Francisco, and East Pine, BC. Ruth moved back to Rumsey to help out her brother Ray and his son John. Ruth met the love of her life Jim D'Arcy at brother Ray's and they were married on August 30, 1958. Ruth and Jim raised their 5 children on the farm near Trochu, and in 2006 moved to Calgary due to health reasons. Ruth lived independently until November 2016 when she fractured her hip. She returned home for a short time in January and then with failing health due to a 7 year battle with lung cancer she moved to the Foothills Country Hospice.
Ruth's family's greatest memories was her bread making - Ruth would have it timed perfectly to have fresh bread, cinnamon buns or pan buns coming out of the oven just when the school bus arrived home. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and community volunteer. From the time when the kids were young to her recent years she donated her time to numerous organizations and charities. Many would remember the days when she would make candy houses at Christmas and raffle them off for charity at the Roach Bros Store. Ruth was active with the 4H Sewing Club, CWL, Royal Purple, and a volunteer at the St Mary's Senior Lodge as well as many other organizations. In her later years Ruth's love was spending time with her husband and family and always cherished the time when her grandchildren would come to visit. Ruth enjoyed coffee and conversation with anyone who would stop by or at her weekly 50+ Club gatherings. The family would like to thank her care givers and friends, both new and old, for their kindness, concern and companionship. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at the Foothills Cancer Clinic (Dr. Morris) and the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, P.O. Box 274, Okotoks, AB, T1S 1S1, Telephone: (403) 995-4673, www.countryhospice.org.
