It's with heavy hearts, the family of Robert Sinclair announce his peaceful passing with family by his side.
Robert was the second child of Robert & Margaret Sinclair, and was raised around the Rumsey, AB, area on different farms until the family bought the Rosenthal farm west of town in 1948. He spent his life farming, auctioneering, hunting, and fishing. In January of 2026, he received a plaque for his 70th year as a member of the Alberta Auctioneering Association, something he was very proud of. Robert married Darlene Avramenko on March 14th, 1959, and they lived and raised their children on the family farm that Robert grew up on, purchasing it from his Dad in 1974. They resided there for 63½ years before moving to the Sunshine Lodge in September of 2022.
Robert is survived by his three children, Rob (Clare), Gord (Kathy), and Lori (Craig) Cawiezel; his thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also, nephews and nieces: Stan (Sandra) Olmstead, Sylvia (Barry) Lee, Sherri (Rob) Carpentier, Brenda Sinclair, and Laurel (Wes) Pierce. Also, in-laws Allen (Fe-Fe), Avramenko, Norley Avramenko, Carol (Nelson) Houghton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Darlene; his daughter, Anita; his grandson, Robert; his parents, Robert and Margaret Sinclair; his sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Richard Olmstead; and his brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Donna Sinclair. Also, mother and father-in-law, Francis and Willie Avramenko; sister-in-law, Marie Jensen, and brother-in-law, LeRoy Avramenko.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s long-term care in Trochu, where he called home the last 2 years, especially the cooks and the recreation department. They would also like to recognize all the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at the Red Deer Hospital.
If friends so desire, charitable donations can be made to the Rumsey Ag. Society or St. Mary's Covenant Care Long Term Recreation Department.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rumsey Community Hall.
