Obituary

Melvin Reese (Bud) BOAKE 1922 - 2015 M.R. (Bud) Boake passed away at the Drumheller Continuing Care Centre on August 13, 2015 at the age of 92. Bud was born August 30, 1922, second son of E.J.C. & Helena Boake's eleven children. Bud was born and lived the first 88 years of his life at Downsview Farm the family homestead farm at Acme that celebrated its 100 years in 2003. In 2010 Bud and Lil moved to The Chateau in Three Hills. Bud was predeceased by his parents Helena and E.J.C, three brothers Joe, Bart and Bill, 2 sisters Mary and Ann. Bud was also predeceased by his oldest son Edward J.W. in 1986. Bud is survived by his wife Lily, one son Reese of Acme, two daughters Lynn (Lew) Patterson of Whitefish, MT, and Leigh (Lloyd) Boles of Three Hills; four grandsons Michael (Julie), Rusty, Brent and Trevor, siblings, Guy, Leta, Ken, Bob and Matt along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was a farmer and lifetime breeder of Shorthorn Cattle. His Dad brought the first purebred Shorthorns to Downsview Farm in 1918. Bud was involved with the Alberta and Canadian Shorthorn Associations, Alberta Cattle Breeders, Calgary Stampede, Regina Agribition, Stockman's Foundation, Pioneer Acres and the Acme Elks. Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Acme Community Centre, AB.
