Lyle was born on the farm south of Delburne, Alberta to R. Clarence & Irma Waddell. The family moved to Bearspaw when Lyle was in Grade 1 where he rode his horse to school. They then moved to Bowness where he finished his education.

Lyle cowboyed and rode horses in Montana and Missouri. He went to Farrier School at Olds College in 1971. He loved trimming and shoeing horses and continued to do so most of his life.

Lyle & Linda were married December 7, 1973 and he always said it was Pearl Harbour Day and had been a wreck ever since.

Their son Joel was born November 10, 1982.

Lyle worked various jobs through his lifetime, but his one love was the Quarter Horses they raised. His favourite season was foaling time in the Spring. He loved rodeo and competed for many years. And in later years he enjoyed watching every rodeo that he could.

He passed away quietly at the farm surrounded by family.
