McKay, Lorne Earl passed away peacefully at the foothills hospital in Calgary the evening of June 27th with his loving family at his side. Lorne was born August 24th, 1949 in Swalwell AB and was raised along with his brother and sister by his parents in Acme Alberta. After high school, Lorne moved to Calgary to work as a machinist with Traco manufacturing and driving bus for Calgary transit. Lorne would marry Shirley Daubert of Beiseker and move back to Acme to help his father run the Acme Hardware Store. After a time the hardware store was sold and Lorne began working at Redline truck and trailer and became a licensed heavy duty mechanic. Lorne and Shirley welcomed their son Jeffrey and daughter Jennifer into their life at this time, and a job running the shop at Pepsi Cola in Calgary was next on Lorne's list of things to do. After working there for 10 years he moved on to being the manager of fleet and equipment for BDL where he spent his last 15 years. Lorne was known for always having an answer to any challenge that came his way and was absolutely thrilled to be a grandpa. Lorne leaves behind his loving wife Shirley of 41 years, his daughter Jennifer and son Jeff (Samantha) and their daughters Elaena and Olivia.
