Levi Boese was born on September 26, 1929 to Daniel and Katherina (Baerg) Boese at home in the Swalwell area. He passed to his Eternal Home on the morning of June 14th, 2016 reaching the age of 86 years. Dad enjoyed a happy childhood. He was the youngest of 7 children. We remember him telling us how he rode his horse Daubin to Buckeye School. He had two cousins Abe and Walter Klassen that became his brothers. Dad gave his heart to the Lord at the tender age of 12 and was baptized on May 10th, 1942. He showed his love for the Lord in song and in his compassionate, humble manner. He found his life companion Lorena Bartel from Greenland, Manitoba. They were married June 5, 1953 despite the Greenland gumbo and the tractor ride it took to get to church! They lived in Linden for their first three years. Then they moved with their son Delton to Whitemouth, Manitoba where they had two more children Barry and Bonnie. He developed a special connection with the youth group there. After ten years in Whitemouth they moved back to the family farm in Linden, where he enjoyed carpentry and displayed his talent for building spiral staircases. Dad and Mom loved traveling - especially visiting old plantations in the southern states, visiting and reconnecting with relatives in Kansas and their trips to Manitoba. Whenever a cloud appeared in the sky he was quick to whisk away to Banff to see the mountains he loved. A monumental moment in his life was obtaining his US citizenship. He had a love for poems and even in his later years could recite "In Flanders Fields" and "In Winnipeg at Christmas;" two of his favorites. He loved helping Mom in the kitchen making his special Iced Tea.
He was proud of his many grandchildren and enjoyed sharing sweets with them!! Left to treasure his memories are his two sons Delton Boese and wife Reta (Linden,AB); Barry Boese and wife Maxine (Linden, AB); and his daughter Bonnie Mytz and husband Murray (Neilburg, SK); 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren! Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Lorena; parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; parents-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law. A special thanks to the staff at Westview Care Community for their loving care of our Father and Grandfather
