IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy Earl
Bronson
November 3, 1930 – November 10, 2025
Leroy (Roy) Earl Bronson was born November 3, 1930, to Jasper and Anna Bronson in Grande Prairie, AB. The angels came to take him home to his Heavenly reward in the early morning hours of November 10, 2025, at Westview Care Community in Linden, AB reaching the age of ninety-five.
Dad spent his growing up years in Peace River County, where he enjoyed the pioneer life at Crooked Creek, AB. He took nine years of schooling in the Ridgevalley School. Many a story he told showed how he enjoyed those days. He was one of the last of that era.
Dad gave his heart to God in his youth and upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized December 3, 1944, by Minister Harry Wenger, and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. His faith was precious to him, and he remained faithful to the end.
On August 24, 1952, he married Lilly Isaac in Rosenort, MB. They shared the joys and sorrow of life together for almost 65 years, until Mom was called home in 2017. This left Dad lonely and he longed to join Mom. They had five daughters and one son born to them.
In his youth Dad started working in lumber camps, this continued into their married life, moving to lumber camps every fall and back home again in spring, until they moved to Linden, AB in 1965. In summer he had various other jobs, working away from home a lot.
He was a welder by trade while living in Linden. There they tragically lost their 14-year-old daughter, Ruby, on Christmas Eve 1969.
They moved back to Crooked Creek, AB in 1983, where he set up a small sawmill. That remained a passion to Dad. We would hear him talking of wanting to go back, right till his last days. He enjoyed the bush, whether it was cutting down trees and sawing them into lumber, or hunting wild animals to feed his family and many others in the community.
They moved back to Linden in their retirement years and enjoyed living in a few different places.
Dad's large strong hands were outstanding and so was his love for people. His compassion for the spiritual well-being of those he encountered left a lasting legacy. Dad's vast and varied interests created many opportunities to interact with those he met. He always seemed to be surrounded by friends, young and old. His last eight years were spent at Westview Care Community, giving him a chance to form many friendships and give encouragement. His humor and gratitude for small daily things were remembered by the care home staff members.
His daughter Laura passed suddenly a year ago, October 2024.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Carol (Menno) Yoder of Mize, MS; Virginia Bronson of Crooked Creek, AB; Beulah (Merle) Reimer of Bow Island, AB; and Dave Bronson of Linden, AB. He is also lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his two sisters, Alice Loewen and Pearl Bronson, along with four sisters-in-law. Special thanks are extended to his dear friends, Duane Klassen and Brian Klassen, who spent many hours visiting with him and offering their help.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters, two brothers, three sisters, and numerous in-laws.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Westview Care Community for the loving care they provided to our dad.
