Obituary

Laurie Dawn Loewen, a cherished daughter, sister and friend was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on the 19th of June, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on April 12th, 1959, in Three Hills, Alberta, Laurie's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and resilience.

Laurie's journey on this earth began as the beloved daughter of Ron and Norma Loewen of Swanson, SK, who instilled in her a deep and enduring faith that would guide her throughout her life. She grew up surrounded by the love and support of her siblings, Bruce and Marla Loewen of Swanson, SK; Kelly and Phyllis Loewen of Dewberry, AB; Kathy Loewen of Barrhead, AB; Darcy Loewen of Swanson, SK; and Jim and Mindy Loewen of Saltcoats, SK, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.

Laurie had a delightful sense of humour. Her natural kindness made it easy for her to connect with strangers.

A true friend in every sense of the word, Laurie shared a special bond with her dear friends, Alice Chapman and Sylvia Loewen, who stood by her through thick and thin.

Laurie's dedication to serving others was evident in her professional life. After completing her LPN training and EMT certification, she devoted herself to a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, followed by years as a bookkeeper.

Laurie was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on January 1st, 1974 at the age of 15 and was true to her vows to the end. Laurie cherished her faith and walk with God.

Family and friends were important to Laurie, she treasured time with her parents, siblings and precious nieces and nephews. Special friends were Les & Carol Klassen and family, Gid & Janelle Berniko and family.

In recent months as her healing was improving she found great pleasure in the simple things, like tending to her flowers, sitting outside listening to the birds, listening to books and knitting.

Described as loving, faith-filled, and courageous, Laurie faced life's challenges with a brave heart and unwavering trust in the Lord. As we bid her farewell, we do so with grateful hearts for the time we were blessed to share with her. She will be profoundly missed by many.
