Larry passed away on August 23, 2016 at the age of 66, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the oldest of ten children born to Peter and Helen Martens of Landmark, Manitoba. He came to Calgary in 1973 and started working for Western Aluminum and has continued with the company, through many name changes, presently Plygem, for 43 years. He spent 18 years working in Saskatoon before moving back to Calgary in 1994. Larry loved life. He was an avid photographer, spending many hours looking for the perfect shot. He was a music lover, especially blues, and enjoyed his golf games. He was still a Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers fan. Going back to Manitoba for the large family gatherings was always a highlight for him. Nothing made him happier than to go camping in his motorhome or riding on his motorcycle. Larry was predeceased by his father, Peter, his mother, Helen, his brother, Leonard and his sister, Valerie. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Stankievech) and his son, Kristopher. Also four brothers, Neil, Gary (Lorraine), Bob and Floyd, and three sisters, Elaine, Sharon (Irvin) and Debbie (George), his in-laws, Margaret, Aaron, Sheena, David and Karynne. His many nieces and nephews will all miss their Uncle Larry, as will his many friends and colleagues. Larry was a special person who touched all he met.
