John Alexander Fraser passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the age of 85 years.

Born on August 21, 1940, in Black Point, Nova Scotia, John was raised in a close-knit fishing community that shaped his hardworking spirit and deep appreciation for family. As a young man, he travelled to Calgary, AB, where he met the love of his life, Leona Fraser. Together they built a life, raising two sons before settling in Irricana, AB, where they made their home.

John found great joy in spending time with his family. He and Leona loved travelling together to visit relatives, whether by the sea in Nova Scotia or across the prairies of Alberta. He was an avid hockey fan and especially cherished watching his grandchildren play, proudly attending their games whenever he could.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Leona Fraser. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Daniel (Lindsey) Fraser and Michael (Sarah) Fraser; his cherished grandchildren, Kalaya, Emily, Alex, and Taiya; as well as his sisters, brothers, cousins, extended family, and many friends.

John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, and the kindness he shared throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service and Graveside will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Maerz Cemetery, Kneehill County, AB. A Private Reception will be held at the family’s home.

If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Linden Lodge or the Canadian Cancer Society.
