With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jeanette Withey, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on May 24, 2022. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Red Deer County, Alberta. She was 87. Born in Calgary, Alberta in 1934 to Edith and Gregor MacKenzie, younger sister to Catherine, she witnessed incredible changes to her world over the years. She went to nursing school and later became a homemaker to her brood of 10, and various others through her dayhome who knew her as Auntie. She married her husband of 59 years, Alfred Withey, in October 1957 who preceded her in death in 2017. Her children were her joy, multiplied exponentially by her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She was the beloved mother of Carol, Michael, Daniel, Evangeline (Jesse), Philip (Elizabeth), Paul (Jennifer), Mark (Becca), Alan (Cheryl), Sam (Maria) and Leanne (Roland). Grandmother to James (Kayla), Alana (Noah), Shanna (Sidney), Seth, Amanda (predeceased, 2016), Rodney, Justin (Montana), Joseph, Adison, Lily, Hunter, Torin, Jeremiah, MacKenzie, Julianna, Jackson, Nolan, Dustin, Ariana, Jordan, Andrew & Cassia. Great-grandmother to Darrellyn, Makenna, Elliot, Zekiel & Kasheric. Jeanette had a huge heart and open arms and loved Jesus with all her heart. All were welcome to family gatherings, what was one more?! She was highly skilled in knitting, crochet, sewing and various needle crafts. Her hands were rarely still. Her garden was also a passion, she had gorgeous flowers and a massive vegetable garden. Several of her children & grandchildren have inherited this love of nature and growing things. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
