Greta Friesen was born February 22, 1940 at home in Winton, California to Jacob and Greta Fast. She was the only girl in a family of five children. They moved to Abbotsford when she was twelve. She met dad when she was a few days old and dad was five. Nineteen years later they married in 1959. It was the last wedding in the old church on Mt. Lehman Rd. In 1974 we moved to Alberta and a year later started farming, a dream come true for us all. We moved into the town of Edberg in 1981. Mom was a lover of flowers, nature, animals, gardening and tea parties. She loved people and loved deeply. Most of all she loved Jesus and then the love of her life, Ervin (or honey as she so lovingly called him). They prayed every day that God would be with the family. She wanted everyone to be at family gatherings. Like in 2017 everyone was there and she was absolutely thrilled. She talked about it many times. She loved babies and was so excited there was another one on the way. She crocheted many toques and blankets to give away. She was a gift giver, always finding something special to give away. She wanted to live. She had many things she wanted to do, but God called her home to a much better place and we miss her terribly. There were no good-byes. Our hearts ache to see her in her chair again, to read a text from her or play another game of words. If only we could text to and from Heaven. With empty hearts and arms we are left to mourn her passing. Ervin, her lifetime sweetheart, John (Cheryl), Jayne (Tracey), Jim (Jennifer), 11 grandchildren and spouses, 6 great grandchildren and a host of friends, Brothers Roger and June Fast and Stan and Phyllis Fast, Debbie Yirkiw, special friend of the family and sister in law Nita Friesen.
