IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gordon Bruce
Dalgetty
May 1, 1948 – February 12, 2023
Our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother Gordon Bruce Dalgetty passed away on February 12, 2023, at the age of 74 at the Three Hills Health Center after a lengthy battle with Cancer. His loving family was by his side as he peacefully passed into God's hands. Gordon was born in Calgary, Alberta at the former General Hospital on May 1, 1948.
Gordon will be remembered by his wife of 51 years Elaine (Skelton) Dalgetty, and his three sons Bruce Dalgetty, Sean and wife Ranae Dalgetty, Ryan and wife Karen Dalgetty. His pride and joy in life were his 6 grandchildren Seth, Taylor, Isaiah, Theoren, Aiden and Milo.
He will also be remembered by his sisters Debbie and husband Brian Edwards, Susan Dalgetty and husband Norman Lee, and his nieces.
Gordon was proud of his Navy service as he followed in his father's footsteps and served our country through many tours and extended his military interest by being a member of his local Legion. His service to the Army cadets was very important to him, he retired as a Captain.
Gordon was a very involved member of the communities he lived in. He will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues from his careers as a heavy-duty mechanic, LPN, and EMT. After his time in McLennan, AB, he finished his career as a fire fighter and heavy-duty mechanic at the Grande Prairie airport. When Gordon and Elaine moved to Three Hills, Gordon was very proud to work for the family business as a bookkeeper and safety officer.
As a father, Gordon took pride in his sons and enjoyed their sports activities. He in particular, enjoyed snowboarding. As a grandfather his love of his grandchildren shone through in his participation as a spectator and photographer. He attended every basketball game he could. When working at the airport, he loved to take his grand kids to let them sit in the equipment and watch the planes.
Gordon will be remembered as a man who had many interests and hobbies and his love for photography will long supersede him.
Gordon is predeceased by his Father David Alexander Dalgetty, mother Audrey Carolina (Steidel) Dalgetty, both grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
The family of Gordon Dalgetty would like to thank all the staff and doctors at the Three Hills Health Centre for their years of care, especially during his final days. The family would also like to thank the Red Deer Cancer Clinic and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their exceptional care.
