Gerald Roy Olmstead, a loving and generous man known for his friendly demeanor, passed away peacefully June 26, 2023, in Three Hills, Alberta.

Born August 11, 1937, in Drumheller, Alberta, Gerald lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family and community. Gerald is survived by his wife of 61 years Marilyn; his children, son Dale (Shona), their children Carla (Shaun), Ryan (Shannon), and Darren (Danielle); daughter Cheryl and her children Brandon (Rheyanna), and Cameron (Nina). Gerald was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Caidan, Andrew, Bryce, Lily, Brody, Wyatt, Hudson, and Milo whom he adored.

Gerald was a hardworking individual and dedicated much of his life to farming. He was also an active member of his community and served the community's children through driving a school bus for 38 years. He continued service as a volunteer fireman, ready to help his neighbors in times of need. Fishing and hunting were among Gerald's favorite pastimes, which he often enjoyed in the company of his family and friends. He was also an avid hockey fan, cheering passionately for the Edmonton Oilers. His interests brought him much joy and through them, he shared many treasured moments with others. Those who knew Gerald will remember him as a man of great generosity and kindness. He had a knack for making people feel welcome and comfortable.

His warm smile and hearty laugh will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing him. In celebrating Gerald's life, we remember a man who was truly loving, generous, and kind. His life was a testament to the power of community, hard work, and family.

We are grateful for the time we had with him, and he will be greatly missed. Gerald's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his loved ones.
