IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gail Jo
Dezengoski
October 2, 1964 – December 12, 2023
Gail Jo Dezengoski passed away on December 12, 2023, in Three Hills, AB, at the age of 59. Born on October 2, 1964, in Calgary, AB, Gail's life was a journey marked by kindness, service, and an unwavering faith.
Gail was predeceased by her beloved Baba, Mary Hryciuk(1990) and her parents, Helen (1995) and Joseph Dezengoski (2003). She is survived by her sister Susan Dezengoski (Tracey Walker). Her legacy also lives on through the many adopted family members from the Thiessen, Wiebe, Ratzlaff, Foreman, and Challen families, who were all touched by her generous spirit and unconditional love. She was more than a family friend, she was a beloved sister and Auntie to all her nieces and nephews. She found great comfort and joy in her furry animal friends.
Gail's professional journey reflected her talents and her passion for serving others. She began her career as a Journeyman Baker, but wanted more interaction with people. Her career path led her to a range of customer service-oriented roles, from working as a barista to managing at National Car Rental. She loved her job at WestJet, a role that allowed her to travel and build her customer service skills. She received numerous accolades and heartfelt kudos from both customers and coworkers.
Her commitment to community shone through her volunteer work. Her compassion and willingness to help others made her a source of light and hope in every community she was part of.
Travel was one of Gail's greatest pleasures, thanks in part to her travel benefits from WestJet. Her favorite places were among the grandeur of the mountains, or swimming in the ocean with turtles and dolphins, where she felt closest to God, her source of daily strength. Gail's love for scenic drives was always accompanied by music, a testament to her belief that life should be filled with melody and joy.
A self-proclaimed "queen of useless information," Gail delighted in trivia, with a particular fondness for 80's music and television programs. Her enthusiasm for musicals was infectious, and she was known to curate special playlists for flights, encouraging fellow travelers to sing and dance along at the gate. Her love for music was as deep as her faith, carefully choosing tunes that lifted her spirit. She was known to have a song or movie quote for any occasion.
Gail's taste in movies was thoughtful and intentional. After embracing her faith in 1996, she sought out films that not only entertained but also inspired and aligned with her values.
Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her existence. Since becoming a follower in 1996, Gail's life was beautifully transformed. Her faith impacted every aspect of her being, from the way she loved and cared for others to her commitment to prayer and the joy she spread.
Over the last 10 years, Gail's mental health challenges and decreased mobility became progressively more debilitating. This eventually resulted in an inability to work(which was a great loss), yet she bravely fought to stay positive, to trust in her Lord, to love those around her. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and love in the lives she touched. Gail's families want to thank the staff and residents of the Linden Lodge, her residence for the last 2 years, for surrounding her with love.
A Celebration of Life will be held.
