IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd Duane
Lamarsh
February 8, 1946 – September 2, 2025
Floyd Duane LaMarsh, a limited edition and author of much kindness, wit, and wisdom, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was 79 years of age.
A lifelong friend magnet, Floyd was born on February 8, 1946, in Calgary, Alberta, to Wilbur and Margery LaMarsh. He worked hard, played a little harder, and his love for family and friends knew no bounds.
While attending school and helping his dad build their home in Airdrie, he met, courted, and married the neighbor's beautiful daughter, Wenda Wood, on Grey Cup Day in 1964. The minister agreed to officiate—but only after the game was over. They went on to celebrate over 60 years of wedded bliss.
Their wonderful children, Tim (Rachelle), Dan (Christina), and Shelly (Al), along with grandchildren Ryan and Katie (Brandon), remember their beloved Dad and Grampy as hardworking, caring, and loving.
Floyd and Wenda lived and worked in Calgary before moving to Kimberley, BC, in 1975, where they owned and operated L & K Taxi (LaMarsh & Kids). This also included several contracts: busing miners to and from the mine and pulp mill, daily mail runs to Cranbrook Airport, airport limousine service, and ground handling for PWA. This work prompted Floyd to obtain his pilot's license, creating a busy pace for years and leading to many enjoyable trips and vacations throughout the United States and the Caribbean. The family later returned to Calgary, where Floyd worked for Coop Fertilizer Plant, CP Rail, and finished off his career with APEL Extrusions.
Floyd and Wenda began their retirement back in Kimberley before relocating to Trochu, Alberta, four years ago.
Floyd's passion was always cars. He could recall past friends and acquaintances by the make, model, color, and details of the vehicle they drove. His favorite car and prized possession was his '63 T-Bird.
Floyd is also survived by brothers Peter and Trent (Pat); brother-in-law Barry (Janice); and nieces and nephews Darby, Becky, Jessica, Kevin, Jennifer, Tamra, and Jenny. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Dale (Avis).
Floyd's beloved humor was evident right to the end. Thank you, Floyd, for a life well lived.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall. Please check back for details.
