Born February 17th, 1930. Passed away December 21, 2021 Dad passed away peacefully at the age of 91, at St. Marys Hospital in Trochu. He was born on February 17th, 1930 and was the third child born to Arild and Alma Wik of Huxley. He had 3 brothers, Pete, Alf and Roy and three sisters, Glenna, Sonia and Lila. He grew up on a farm outside of Huxley and attended Huxley School until grade 10 when he went to work for his father. Dad loved playing hockey and baseball in his younger years. He was a member of the Huxley Mens Hockey team, the Trochu Arenas Hockey team and he was the pitcher for the Huxley hardball and fastball teams. He played in the Alberta Fastball Championships for two years with the Rosedale Midways 21 & under team. He was a talented musician playing both the guitar and harmonica, he also loved to dance. He enjoyed gatherings with friends and family was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and trapper. In 1953 he married Isabelle Brereton and they resided in Huxley. They had five children and were married for 64 years until Isabelle passed away in 2017. When they were first married Dad drove a gravel truck and worked the B/A Petroleum business with his father and brother. Over the next 64 years he ran a D7, and D8 caterpillars and had a trucking business. Elmer leaves behind his children Joy (Rob) Jopp, Paul Wik, Fay (Mike) Moran, Bonnie Wik and George (Faye) Wik, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Two Sisters Sonia Kennedy and Lila (Rob) Pearce, sister-in-laws Joyce (Roger) Gelinas, Mary Lippert and Sonny Wik and many nieces and nephews. We will miss you Dad but will have peace knowing that you will have a wonderful Christmas this year in Heaven with your family and friends who will be there to greet you. Thank you is not enough to say to the staff at St. Marys for taking such good care of our dad for the last 13 years. You made St. Marys his home; you were his family when we couldnt be there. A small family gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate Dads life. If friends desire, donations may be made to St. Marys Health Care center in Trochu or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
