Edna Penner went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday, December 9, 2016 after suffering a heart attack at the Three Hills Hospital. Edna was born on December 29, 1927 to Lewis and Ida Megli of Sunnyslope, Alberta. For most of the next 88 years she resided in the Linden area. After graduating from high school, Edna attended the University of Calgary where she obtained her Elementary and Junior High Teaching Certificate. This certificate gave her the opportunity to teach in various rural schools and to substitute teach later on in life. Edna was joined in holy matrimony to Edgar Merton Penner on July 27, 1951. Shortly after they were married they bought a farm near Linden where they enjoyed working together. In 1985 Edgar and Edna moved into Linden where she helped Edgar in Grandpa's Woodshop. For the last six years she resided in the Linden Lodge. Edna loved gardening, reading, going for walks and observing the nature around her. Edna enjoyed having friends and family drop by; if they needed a meal or a place to stay for the night, she would gladly invite them in and look after them. Edna faithfully served her Lord at the Linden MB church as a Sunday School Teacher, Pioneer Girls Guide, in the Ladies Fellowship and in quilt-making for the homeless. She was also involved in the Dr. Elliott School and the Seniors Outreach. Edna had a very positive attitude and could find something be thankful for in any situation. Most of all Edna was a prayer warrior. Most of her phone calls would end in "I'll be praying for you." What a legacy! Edna and Edgar enjoyed 51 years of married life. Edna was predeceased by Edgar on July 8, 2002 and son-in-law Ken Ritz on November 22, 2013. She is survived by her children Rob and Diane Penner, Dawn Ritz, Heather and Stan McCutcheon and Wayne and Heather Penner; eleven grandchildren, Christy and Brian Hesson and family, Mike and Emily Penner and family and Robb and Melissa Penner and family, Rebecca Ritz, Melissa Ritz, Stanley McCutcheon, Cynthia McCutcheon, Cassandra Penner, Evan Penner, Shayne and Elizabeth Dow and family, John Young and family, sister Alvena Penner, sister in law Daisy Megli, sister Irene Colquhoun, brother Allan and Mary Megli, sister Selma and Dave Falk, sister Faye and Hugh Engler, sister Grace Megli.
