Our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Edna Sarah Esau Loewen, was born to Jacob D. and Mary (Penner) Esau on August 13, 1935 at Linden, AB. She peacefully passed away at Westview Care Community, March 6, 2024 reaching the age of 88 years.

Mom was the 4th child born into a family of 12 children. She attended the Linden Country School and the Antler School. Mom gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at the age of 13. Her faith was precious to her.

Our Mom married Leonard Loewen on October 31, 1954. They were the second ones to marry of the 4 Loewen brothers and the 4 Esau sisters, at Linden, AB and they enjoyed almost 66 years together. Their home was blessed with 3 daughters. They spent most of their married life on the farm. Mom enjoyed helping Dad, especially driving grain truck during harvest. She faithfully supported Dad in his work of the deaconry, often going along on his travels and making lifelong friendships.

She was a hospitable person and enjoyed having company, making many delicious meals. Through the years she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved to sew and we remember the many hours she spent sewing for her family and in the later years quilt tops for the church sewing.

After Dad had his stroke in 2015 and moved to Westview Care Community, Mom devoted her time to being at his side. Her health declined and she made the move into Westview Suites where she was closer to Dad, until he passed in 2020. She spent her last 3 1/2 years in long term care, passing the time with reading. Mom always liked to sing and enjoyed the resident singing evenings, joining in with her alto.

Those left to cherish precious memories are: her girls, Brenda & Les Regehr of Delisle, SK, Carol & Les Klassen of Linden, AB, Candis & Verlin Jantz of McLeese Lake, BC; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Allen & Marlyne Esau, Norma & Ron Loewen, Deanna & Vern Loewen, Fred & Bernice Esau; sisters-in-law Alice Esau, Joanne Esau, Wilma Esau; sister-in-law Eileen & Harvey Toews; and brother-in-law Bob & Edith Loewen.

Loved ones gone before are her loving husband Leonard, 1 grandson Michael, parents, parents-in-law, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, 1 brother-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law.

We as a family would like to thank the Westview Care Community for the loving and compassionate care she received.
