Obituary

In Loving Memory of the Life of Dorothy passed away suddenly on July 9, 2018, four days before her 87th birthday. She is survived by her children, Wayne and Maria Hannah, Trevor and Karen Hannah, son-in-law Brian Anhorn and Betty and Donald Schissel as well as thirteen grandchildren Lindsay (Dan), Erin (Shane), Robert (Anna), Vincent (Heather), Mitchel (Nicole), Rayna (Dale), Philip (Melanie), Travis, Shane, Jennifer (Mark), Terri (Beau), Kim (Steve), Gerald (Jessica) and twenty great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Hannah, her infant daughter Sharon, daughter Susan Anhorn, granddaughter Patricia Anhorn and her five brothers and three sisters. Dorothy was from the Carstairs area and the youngest of 9 children born to Elmer and Alice Fox. She met her husband Bob at a country dance at the East Carstairs Hall and they were married on March 24, 1950. Dorothy was an active member of the community enjoying sports and service clubs. Along with raising four children she was a fastball player, curler, square dancer, and bridge player. For years, she also taught Sunday School at the Acme United Church and she was always busy on the farm driving truck, feeding pigs, cattle, chickens and especially loved gardening. Some of Bob and Dorothy`s favourite activities included playing cards, camping and traveling to special events such as the World Curling Championships in Scotland and other international destinations over the years. She especially enjoyed taking nickels and pennies off her sisters and brothers in Sunday afternoon card games. Bob and Dorothy were always active participants in their childrens and grandchildrens activities. They farmed west of Acme from 1960 to 1980 and moved to Acme when their son Trevor built them a house. They lived there for almost 30 years until 2009 when her husband Bob passed away and it was after this that Dorothy moved to Luxstone Manor in Airdrie where she resided until her passing. In her later years, Dorothy`s vision deteriorated making it difficult for her to socialize and get around. She was always a friendly face and a helping hand to everyone and she will be dearly missed!
