Dorothy was born, the oldest of 6 children, on July 2, 1924, to John & Katherine Barnes. Dorothy was born and raised on the family farm in Elnora, so was well suited to farm life when she married Bob on April 4, 1947. Dorothy is survived by daughter Sharon (Bill) Bannister of Boswell, BC, daughter Barb Elliott of Red Deer and daughter Jan (Dan) Hagel of Swalwell, as well as 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sisters Helen Neufeld of Wetaskiwin, and Jean Ferguson of Vernon, B.C.; sisters-in-law Irma Barnes, Marie Empey and Pearl (Wally) Bahan and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, son Alan, husband Bob of 66 years, sister Kay Gall and brothers Jack and Alan Barnes and sister-in-law Sharon Barnes, and brothers-in-law John Neufeld, David Gall, and Glen Ferguson. Dorothy was a caring person and very well liked by all who knew her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was so very proud of each and every one of them. She was a wonderful cook and made the best home made bread and buns of the area. She was a charter member of the Swalwell Town and Country Club which recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Dorothy & Bob stayed on the farm until moving to Three Hills in 1972. They were amongst the first residents of the Chateau and thoroughly enjoyed their time there. For the past 3 years Dorothy was resident in Long Term Care in Olds, Trochu and finally home to Three Hills. As a family we wish to express our appreciation for the condolences and all acts of kindness shown at this time.
