IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doreen
Reimer
September 11, 1931 – November 12, 2023
Our dear mother, Doreen Reimer, was born on September 11, 1931, to John R. and Margaret Isaac Barkman at Kleefeld MB. Jesus called her home at sunrise on November 12, 2023.
As the oldest child she was a busy girl, helping in the home and being a big sister to her eight siblings. She enjoyed school and her friends, there, a love of reading and poetry was born. When she was 12 years old, she accepted Jesus as her Saviour and was baptized, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
When she was twenty, she travelled to Alberta to work in the Linden Nursing Home, and later took nurse's training. It was here she met her future husband, Fred Reimer. They were married on August 19, 1955, at Kleefeld, MB. They settled on a mixed farm at Linden where their first two daughters were born. In 1961 they moved to Edberg where 4 more children made their family complete.
Caring for her husband and children was her delight, singing as she went about her work. She devoted her life to making a secure, happy home for her family. She loved nature and beauty, gardening, and birds.
After twenty years another move took the family to Carrot River, SK. Each new family member was welcomed and loved. Her grandchildren were a special joy to her. Sorrow came with the loss of their youngest son, David, in 2017.
Their sunset years found them in Camrose, AB, living at Rosealta Lodge where they enjoyed making new friends. Dad's passing four years ago left her lonely, but she carried on with courage and gratefulness. When attending church became difficult, the weekly Sunday school and coffee in her room was a bright spot for mom. We are thankful for God's nearness through her life and look forward to meeting her in Heaven.
She leaves behind: her children, Bonnie and Tony Isaac, Sinclair MB, Candace and Ken Thiessen, Cromer, MB, Vickie and Gerald Thiessen, Edberg, AB, Danny and Lenore Reimer, Mistatim, SK, Lorna and Glenn Johnson, Lakin, KS; daughter-in-law Lenore Reimer, Vanderhoof, BC; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four step granddaughters; brothers and sisters, Viola Spensely, Verna Penner, Melvin and Gwen Barkman, Audrey and Ed Enns, Wilbert Barkman, Mabel Penner; Dad's family, Jac Reimer, Anne Baerg, Susanna Reimer, Howard and Edith Reimer, Ralph and Gerri Reimer, Gilbert and Marilyn Reimer.
She was predeceased by one son, one grandson, one sister and one brother.
