Obituary

Denise Baerg passed away peacefully on July 16, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 62. Her beauty, strength, faith, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Denise is survived by her father Tom Baerg, partner Rick Krieger, siblings and extended family, Glenda (Randall) Laing, Thelma (Gary) Sheffield, June (Dave) Ingram, Rhonda (Jim) Thomson, Kevin (Christine) Krieger, Brenda Krieger, Wendy (Robert) Straub, Mona Krieger, Leanne (Dave) Wilkinson, former spouse Roy Riddle, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Denise was predeceased by her mother Eva Baerg (neeThiessen). Denise was born the middle child of Tom and Eva Baerg on January 11,1956 in Calgary, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm in Linden. Attended Linden and Midway schools and graduated from Carstairs high school. After graduation, Denise went to Bauder College in Florida, where she received an Associate of Arts degree in Fashion and Design. She made several life-long friends during her time at Bauder. Her education and abilities provided a successful foundation for her modelling career. One of her highlight achievements was representing Canada at a pageant in Quito, Ecuador. Later Denise utilized her knowledge, experience, and love of fashion to start her own modeling business - consulting and mentoring others. Denise traveled extensively within the U.S, in addition to Acapulco, Mexico City, the Yukon, and even lived in Ottawa for several years. She spoke fondly of her adventures, and other activities such as hiking in the mountains and ice skating on the Rideau canal. Health and fitness were important to her. She woke early, exercised daily, ate healthy, and was an avid walker. No matter where she journeyed in life, Denise was a farm girl at heart, and it always brought her back to the family farm which she helped build from scratch. It was the very heart, passion, and core of Denise, and she worked hard to keep it meticulously maintained. Denise had a deep compassion for the people in her life, and a special love for animals. She held her faith in God above all things. It was her unwavering faith that carried her through every obstacle, goal, decision, and blessing with grace and strength.
