James Henry Duft June 22, 1938 – November 4, 2022 (84) and Delores Ann Duft (nee Wilson) December 16, 1944 - November 4, 2022 (77) We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother and father. James Henry Duft born June 22, 1938 in Elnora, Alberta to Lee and Annie Duft. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Isabel and brother Leo. Delores Ann Duft (nee Wilson) born December 16, 1944 in Petersburg, Alaska to Norman and Doris Wilson. She was predeceased by her parents. They are survived by their son Ronald Duft (Crystal), daughter Leah Cardwell, grand daughter Jessica Cardwell, great grandson Tristan Besner, and James brother Ray Duft. James and Delores were Loving partners and best friends for over 58 years. James grew up on the family farm East of Elnora and has farmed his whole life. James was very good with animals, wrangling hogs and cattle, and had a dairy for many years. He attended Ashcroft school, Cornwall and Grandcourt single room schoolhouses. He worked as Bartender in Elnora in the 70s, built Cedar chalets, worked pipeline and spent many years as custodian of the Elnora school and finally retired from Delburne school. Delores grew up in a small fishing village in Alaska, she finished off high school in Auburn, Washington before joining her pen-pal James on the prairie. Her passion was cooking and cake decorating. Ever the ultimate hostess she could cook a family meal for 4 or seat 25 for a feast at the old farmstead. They were gentle souls with many friends, family and acquaintances, the coffee was always on. Over the years many young people came to stay and work on the farm. All were received with open arms and open hearts. To those facing trouble, it was a calm haven to the storm of life. James and Delores were ever doting grandparents to generations of children and young adults. They enjoyed camping at Trenville park, loved nature and bird watching and also enjoyed watching travel videos on cold winter nights. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
