Obituary

David Howard, affectionately known as Dave to his friends and family, passed away on May 22, 2024, at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 28, 1943, in Davidson, Saskatchewan, Dave was a man of many talents and a heart full of kindness. His final days were spent in Strathmore, Alberta, surrounded by the love and care of his family and friends.

Dave grew up on the prairies of Saskatchewan, a place that instilled in him a love for the land and the community that he carried with him throughout his life. He completed his education up to Grade 12, after which he embarked on a life defined by hard work, service, and faith. Throughout his career, Dave was known for his skills as a truck driver, farmer, and mechanic. His hands were rarely still, as he was always working on a project or lending his skills to those in need.

In addition to his professional work, Dave's unwavering faith led him to serve as a missionary and part-time missionary dentist. This role allowed him to touch the lives of many across various communities, providing not only dental care but also spiritual support. Dave's commitment to his faith was further evidenced by his devotion to studying the Bible and his constant efforts to help the less fortunate. His generosity and compassion knew no bounds, and he was always ready to offer a helping hand or a word of encouragement.

Dave's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He is survived by his sister Barbara Gregor, his brothers Eldon Coward and Rae Coward (and wife Kathy), who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Cecil and Lilly Coward, and his sister Charlotte Martens. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love that shone brightly in their lives.

Those who knew Dave understood that his life was a testament to the values he held dear: integrity, generosity, and faith. His legacy is one of selflessness and service, and it will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him. Dave's absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched during his time as a missionary and community member.

In honor of Dave's enduring spirit and the profound influence he had on so many, his life will be commemorated in a private ceremony, where his family and friends will gather to share stories, reflect on his many contributions, and celebrate the man who was a true servant to his community.

Rest in peace, Dave. Your legacy will continue to inspire, and your memory will always be cherished.
