David Epp, a man of faith and wisdom, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 92 in Three Hills, AB. Born on July 22, 1933, in Hussar, AB, David's life was a testament to his loving nature and his unwavering commitment to his family and faith.
He was a pillar of strength and wisdom for his family, including his beloved wife Mary Dyck Epp, his children Kevin (Jeanette) Epp and Lynette Epp; his step-children Len (Ella) Dyck, Ron (Kaylene) Dyck, Lisa Gillies, Alvin (Laurie) Dyck, and Larry (Charlene) Dyck. He was a proud grandfather to Alexander (Mackenzie) Epp, Danielle (Daniel) Kerr, Larissa (partner Jamie) Dyck, Daniel (Birgit) Dyck, Rebecca (Marc) Woycechowsky, Christine (partner Danny) Dyck, Lindsay (Brendan) Dyck, Justin (Jen) Dyck, and Ashley Dyck. His legacy continues through his many great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sisters Marie Dirks and Margaret Janzen. David was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Epp (nee Anderson), infant son Lowell, parents Peter and Anna Epp, siblings Annie (Albert) Schaffer, Peter (Elsie) Epp, Frank (Hilda) Epp, and in-laws Walter Dirks and Jake Janzen.
David graduated from Rosthern Junior College in 1952. While at Rosthern Junior College David professed his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – a profession that became the foundation for the rest of his life. David earned a degree from Berean Bible College in 1959 where he met his future wife Shirley during his second year. His commitment to his Christian beliefs was evident in his life's work. From 1962 to 1977, he served as a missionary in Nigeria with SIM International, touching countless lives through his service. David and Shirley were married in Nigeria in 1964.
Upon returning to Canada, David continued his vocational journey as a bookkeeper at Coronation Farm Equipment from 1977 to 1981 and later as a Student Financial Advisor at Prairie College until 1998. After his retirement from Prairie College, his dedication to his community extended to his work with Action International as a bookkeeper until 2002. After losing his first wife Shirley to cancer in 2003, David met Mary Dyck in 2007 and they were married in 2011.
His accomplishments were many, including his ordination in 1968, his service as a Chaplin at Three Hills Hospital, his role as an elder in the Prairie Tabernacle Congregation, and his participation in the 200km Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2009 and 2010. A testament to his faith and active spirit, David loved to study his Bible and pray, read, ride his bike, participate in hikes and walks, and go camping with family. He enjoyed sharing these passions with friends and family alike.
David Epp will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His wise counsel, faith-filled life, and the love he shared will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him. His legacy of kindness, service, and devotion to his loved ones and his faith will endure in the hearts of all who cherished him. David's life was a journey of love, faith, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the world that will not soon be forgotten.

My Dearest Dave,
My beloved husband of 14 years — a man after God's own heart — you were a constant inspiration in my life and in the lives of our family. Your prayers were an anchor in our daily lives. You prayed faithfully for so many friends and family, lifting each of us up with unwavering love and devotion. You were such an inspiration, always keeping our hearts focused on the Lord and His work. Rest in peace, my dear. I will miss you deeply, but I rejoice knowing you are with Him.
Until we meet again, my love, rest in peace.
