David J. Cota passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the age of 87 years. He was born on June 23, 1938, in Lansdowne, Ontario, where he grew up in the surrounding area and ventured to Alberta in 1963.

David worked in the electrical wholesale and retail business for the better part of his life. In his early years, he was a Scout leader with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Elks of Canada and an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, camping, and wine making.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley; his children, Steve (Leanna), Sally Bradford, and Lisa (Dan) Shippit; his grandchildren, Taya Bradford, Alicia (Colby) Corraini, Holly (James) Siebert, Adam (Janel) Shippit, and Brendan (Ben) Shippit; as well as his great-grandchildren, Datin, Marco, Kayleigh, and Chloe.

He is also survived by his brother, Allan (Elizabeth) Cota, and sister, Shirley Emmons, along with many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Willet and Marion Cota; his brothers, Arthur, Wayne and Dale.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Delburne Community Hall, in Delburne, AB, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
