Obituary

Daniel Dean Westman, known affectionately as Dan by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on the 24th of August, 2025, at his Gull Lake residence in Alberta at the age of 56. Born on the 16th of April, 1969, in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Dan's journey through life was one marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a robust work ethic, and a boundless capacity for kindness.

Dan's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. His beloved wife, Josie, stood by his side as a partner and confidante, sharing in the joys and challenges that life presented. Together, they raised two remarkable daughters, Shayla (Adam) and Destiny (Colby), whose lives were deeply influenced by their father's enduring strength and compassion. The joy in Dan's life multiplied with the birth of his grandson, Holden, who became the light of his world. Dan cherished every moment spent with Holden, and the bond they shared was a source of great happiness for the entire family

Dan was the son of Doug and a cherished member of the Moyor family, sharing a special connection with his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Emily. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Denise (Rob), Penny, and David (Steve) as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Danny.

Dan was predeceased by his mother, Sharon, his brother, Daren, and his mother-in-law, Barbara. Their memories and the values they instilled in him were carried throughout his life and will continue to live on through the family's cherished stories.

Throughout his career as a truck driver, Dan's work ethic and dedication to his profession were evident to all who knew him. He took pride in his job and found camaraderie and friendship within the trucking community.

Dan's interests were simple yet profoundly reflective of who he was as a person. He found solace and joy in yard work, where he would spend hours tending to his acreage, creating a space of tranquility and beauty for his family. His animals were his companions, and he devoted much time to their care, forging a bond that spoke volumes about his capacity for empathy and love. His truck was more than just a vehicle for Dan; it was a project that he poured his heart into, working on it with a passion that was both inspiring and infectious. Yet, nothing compared to the time he spent playing with his grandson Holden, whose energy and innocence were a source of endless happiness for him.

Those who knew Dan would describe him as thoughtful, kind, selfless and hardworking. He had the unique ability to make everyone around him feel valued and important, and his legacy of love and selflessness will be his everlasting gift to the world.

As we bid farewell to Daniel Dean Westman, we celebrate his life with the love of his family, the loyalty of his friends, and the respect of his colleagues. Dan's memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and the memories he leaves behind will be cherished as precious reminders of a life well-lived.
