Obituary

After a lengthy six-year battle with cancer, Dale Wesley Barnard passed away early on August 30th, 2023, at the age of 58 surrounded by family at home. Born in Bentley Alberta on July 17th, 1965, Dale was a wild and free-spirited individual who enjoyed taking in every moment of life no matter what challenges may have come along the way.

Dale dedicated his life to the field of Oil & Gas exploration in Canada, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. His notable achievements encompassed his role as a co-founding partner in Columbus Exploration, Magellan Resources, and El Cano Exploration, where he expertly managed field operations spanning Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Additionally, he was a part of the consulting team for the development of Oil & Gas operations for companies in the United Arab Emirates.

Although his passing has come very sudden and quick, his memories and stories will always leave an impression on those he loved. Dale, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend, enjoyed his time experiencing the wonders of the world including spending time in Jamaica with his "good buddy" Arie at any given moment whenever they could. Dale truly understood the importance of family and never missed an opportunity to visit them during the holidays and for reunions. Dale's humorous and welcoming personality always made the people around him feel special, which is something that will forever be cherished by his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh even in the moments when he was hurting the most.

Dale is survived by his wife Debbie; children Megan (Mark) Reed, Katie, and Emily; grandchildren Onica and Erylin (Tessier), Cade (Reed), Lilly, and Jack (MacKeigan); father Douglas (Dorothy); siblings Dwayne and Michelle (Sheldon); in-laws Stevenson Swain, Lenora Black, and Shirley Lockhart; and numerous relatives including nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friends Arie Van Der Waal and family, Darren Rennie and family, Morgan and Jaxon Sheeka, as well as his beloved cat Sadie.

Dale was predeceased by the mother of his children Theresa Amos, 2022, his mother Shirley-Ann Barnard, 2009, and his son Joel, 1987.

Dale will be forever missed by all the people who love him in Canada, Jamaica, and The Bahamas.
