Charles Chuck Tomlinson passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on June 7, 2022 at Westview Care Community in Linden, AB. He was 71. Chuck was born in and grew up around Toronto, ON, the eldest of five children of Wilfred Tomlinson and Sarah Jane Tomlinson (nee Thomas). He grew up working with his family at the Tomlinson Greenhouses in Toronto and developed a life-long love of gardening. He graduated from Victoria College at the University Toronto with a Masters degree, and spent a year of his studies in Freiburg, Germany and traveling around Europe. For much of his life, he was an avid ham radio operator. He was a lover of music and skilled at playing the organ; he was an organist at the Crusaders Church in Toronto, and later at St. Johns Anglican in Acme, AB and occasionally at the Linden Lodge. On March 29, 1980, he married Susan Tomlinson (nee Mills) in Toronto, and together they moved to Calgary, AB. In 1998, Chuck moved to Linden, AB with Susan and their two children. Chuck proudly worked with the Linden Agricultural Society, Citizens On Patrol, and was an active member of the local church community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and sought out opportunities to volunteer. Chuck is survived by son Andrew, and daughter Rebecca (husband Daniel); his siblings Mark (wife Barbara), Peggy (husband Donald), Timothy, and Kathy; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by wife Susan, parents Wilfred and Sarah Jane, and parents-in-law Frederick and Elizabeth Mills. A celebration of life was held on June 13, 2022 at Linden Alliance Church with interment in Linden Cemetery. The family sends special thanks to the staff at Westview Care Community, and the people of Linden and surrounding area for their care and compassion during this time.
