Barrington (Barry) Anthony Lewis passed away peacefully on 30 May 2026, after a short battle with cancer. Barry was born on the 13th of August 1940 in Jamaica. He spent his childhood years with friends playing cricket, football and fishing, and as a young man worked in the hospitality industry in Jamaica, the Bahamas and on-board cruise ships.
He met his wife, Maureen, in New York, USA, in 1969, starting their 57-year journey through life, collecting friends and experiences together. Arriving in Canada, Barry first became a farmer - beef cattle, pigs, sheep, wild turkeys and even some exotic birds. This was followed by becoming a restaurant owner and then spending time managing and bringing back to “profit” restaurants and hotels in Cloyne, ON, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Edmonton, AB, Provost, AB, Banff, AB, Jasper, AB, Queen Charlotte Islands, BC, Canmore, AB, and Calgary, AB.
In 1999, Barry and Maureen had had enough of the travelling life and finally found a place they could call home – Three Hills, AB - and their final adventure, raising goats, began - a new start, making friends, finding hunting partners, and amazing neighbours.
Barry loved Maureen, his family, and all their friends. He will be missed dearly by his children, Terri, Nicole, David, and Donna, their spouses, his thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two uncles, three aunts, and countless friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Fellowship Church, Three Hills, AB, with a Reception to follow.
If family and friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Bethel Fellowship Church Building Fund.
