Obituary

Art Taylor was a loving husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born at Elnora, Alberta on November 27, 1925. Art married the love of his life Lucille Collinge from Didsbury on October 19, 1949. He is survived by his wife (Lucille) of sixty-six years; daughter Maxine (Laverne) Piepke and grandchildren Kathy (Hans) Philipsen, Bryan (Nancy) Piepke, Todd (Jayme) Piepke; son Bill (Jeanne) Taylor and grandchildren Trisha (Jason) Jaskela, Terralee (Jared) Penner and Michael (Crystal) Taylor; daughter Betti Wallz and grandchildren Kim (Daman) Duezek, Cody Dalsin, Kady Dalsin, Kitt Dalsin and twins Conrad and Kelly Dalsin; Valerie's son Danny Bryant; daughter Kathy Taylor and grandchildren Ryan (Reese) McCusker, Tyler (Erika) McCusker, Taylor McCusker, and Stephanie McCusker (Bobby). He is also survived by sons-in-law Paul Bryant and Brian McCusker as well as nineteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Valerie Bryant and great-grandson Cohyn Jaskela. Art was a member of St. John's Anglican Church where he received his plaque for having served as Vicar's Warden for 50 years. There were five generations-Mary Taylor, Art Taylor, Maxine Piepke, Kathy Philipsen and Kurt Philipsen. As well he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Oddfellow Lodge in both Acme and Sunnyslope. He enjoyed it very much. He was a member of both the Acme and Irricana Seniors. He participated in the senior summer games several times. Art was on the Three Hills Hospital board, the Drumheller Advisory board, and chairman of Meadow Park Manor when it first opened. Art was a member of the range patrol, a U.F.A. delegate and an associate member of the Legion. He was also on the Acme Hall Board and belonged to the Acme AG Society and both the Riding and Curling clubs. He also helped with Unifarm for years. Farming was Art's passion, especially his John Deeres. He loved playing cards, watching the Blue Jays and socializing with friends, but most of all he loved being with his family. The Taylor family would like to thank the staff at Westview Care Community. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Anglican Church. Memorial services will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Acme Community Centre.
