Obituary

Anne Dorthy Reimer Baerg, our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma was born on March 6, 1929, at Giroux, MB to Aaron and Catherine Bartel Reimer. She peacefully slipped away on February 2, 2024, at the Westview Care community.

She was the third child born into a family of five girls and five boys. She had a happy childhood working hard to help the family survive, they moved to Crooked Creek when she was seven and helped on the homestead until they moved to a dairy farm at Linden, AB in her early teens. She was baptised into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on July 9, 1941, at Crooked Creek. She embraced this faith until the end. She had a happy youth life working at Linden's first restaurant, which was owned by her dad. This is where she met our Dad, Arnold Baerg. Later she spent time working at the post office in Acme.

Dad and Mom got married on May 29, 1949, at Linden. They welcomed each of their five children and created a happy, secure home for us. Moms strong, positive, and optimistic view of life supported Dad through their life together. Mom loved us all and we loved her in return. Mom and Dad taught us so much but most of all they taught us to love God and about His plan of salvation. She left us an example of a positive attitude towards life. As life moved on and as us children married, she welcomed each new addition to her family as her own. As the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along her joy increased. They lovingly called her grandma Anne.

Mom had a giving heart and was happy to serve on the sewing committee, making food for others or helping her family in so many ways. Making cinnamon rolls and sewing for us was an extension of her love for us. She sewed many dresses, first for us girls and then for her granddaughters. She also sewed many denim quilts that she shared with others. Mom enjoyed people and had a listening ear and a big ready smile. She enjoyed having Sunday dinner company young and old alike.

Mom and Dad spent time in Gallup, NM where they reached out with hugs and love to the many sad and lonely children. They were Papa and Mama to the wonderful girls that served there with them and made lasting friendships.

Mom and Dad moved to Westview Suites in 2013 and enjoyed four lovely years there before going into long term care. Dads passing in 2018 after 69 years together left her lonely and thinking she would join Dad soon. Little did she know it would be five more years, but she kept her bright smile and thankful heart.

Mom often expressed her thanks for the amazing care the nurses and the rest of the staff of Westview gave her. We as a family would like to thank you for the compassion and care you gave her.

Her survivors include: her children Murray and Marguerite Baerg, Pat and Richard Toews, Bruce and Wanda Baerg, Lorrin and Kate Baerg, and Darlene and Bert Boese, all of Linden, AB; 19 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Howard and Edith, Ralph and Jerri, and Gilbert and Marilyn; 1 sister-in-law Susanna Reimer and 1 brother-in-law Jac Reimer; Dad's family, Walt Regehr and Dave and Dorothy Duerksen. She was preceded by her husband, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 great-grandsons and 15 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
