It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Anita Beverly Clare of Calgary, Alberta. She passed away on May 8th, 2016 at the age of 66. Anita was born September 19th, 1949 to Helena (Koop) and Adolph Toews in Steinbach, Manitoba, where she joined her four older siblings Joe, Judy, Danny and Yvonne, and became a caring big sister to her younger brother, Doug. At age 8, her family moved to the Linden area in Alberta. Ten years later she met Tom Clare, whom she married in May 1969. In 1970 they were blessed with their first baby, Juanita, who sadly passed on 3 months later. Sadness turned to happiness when their son Thomas arrived in 1971, followed by Bruce in 1975 and Beverly in 1978. Sadness once again returned when Beverly passed on in 1984. Anita and family lived in several places in Alberta, but Linden, Airdrie, and Calgary were most frequently called home. Wherever she went, Anita spread love and sunshine to those who knew her. Anita was a firm believer in her Lord Jesus Christ and her faith rarely wavered. She was predeceased by her parents, Helena and Adolph, in 1974 and 1999, her nephews, Cyril and Frank Brown, in 1976 and 1986, her sisters, Judy and Yvonne, in 1991 and 2008, and the aforementioned daughters Juanita and Beverly. She leaves behind her husband Tom of 47 years, her son Thomas, her son Bruce and his wife Shellie, her four grandchildren Aiden, Isabel, William and Kian, her brothers Joe, Danny and Doug (and their spouses), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as the countless other people her love touched. Anytime her kids called her 'Mother', she scolded them with, "Anyone can be a Mother, it takes someone special to be a Mom." A bold statement, but Anita walked the talk as she was a Mom not only to her four children, but to anyone that needed one. She has left this world a better place for just having been it.
