Our dear brother, husband, dad, uncle and papa Adin Klassen was born on August 25, 1941 to Walter & Priscilla Toews Klassen, in a small homestead cabin at Crooked Creek, Alberta. The angels came and took him to be with Jesus on August 11, 2016 at noon. Heaven was always his goal. It was a very sweet peaceful time, surrounded by his loved ones. He was just 2 weeks short of his 75th birthday. His early years were spent at Crooked Creek. He was the second oldest of eleven siblings. He loved being a part of a big family. He became a Christian and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on October 27, 1953 by Minister Reuben Koehn. His faith in God was always precious to him and he kept the faith until the very end. He married Betty Isaac at Kleefeld, Manitoba on July 28, 1941 by Minister Joe Isaac. We had a happy home and God blessed us with 2 sons, 2 daughters and 10 grandchildren. He loved us all in such a gentle unconditional way. Dad and Mom spent several years in the children's home in Fort Vermilion and also mission time in Hague, Saskatchewan. These were precious memories and stories to be told and retold over the years. Dad was a builder for most of his life. Many a piece of fine oak furniture came out of his shop on his yard. He was a farmer at heart and always watched the sky and the weather. His retirement home view of the country and the mountains made him very happy. On Nov 11, 1969 he was ordained to the deaconry by Minister Cornie Unruh. On May 1, 1973 he was ordained into the gospel ministry by Minister Joe Isaac. He was a faithful shepherd of the flock and was always interested and cared about how each one was faring spiritually. Dad was always our best friend. Day or night, he was always available to listen to us and our successes and troubles. We will miss the many hours spent in phone conversations with him. He had a good sense of humor. We loved to laugh with our Dad. He was always honest but kind and often, he would just listen us out. Prayer was important to him and was always a part of our family devotions. He nearly always ended his prayers with the request that we would meet in heaven without the loss of one. Dad loved to sing. We remember our Dad singing many songs all through his life. Dad had a very big heart for everyone around him. He loved to live in his house by the side of the road and be a friend to man. Many times he would stop his work in the carpenter shop when someone would stop in to chat. A cup of coffee was always on for anyone who wanted to sit down with him. Dad lived in Crooked Creek for 60 years. They moved to Beaverlodge in 2000 and spent 16 beautiful retirement years. He continued with his custom furniture business, and enjoyed the opportunities to meet his neighbors. They made many friends and felt very much at home here. His health was always a challenge through the years. He had diabetes for 60 years. He received the very special gift of a kidney from his sister Vivian. We are very grateful for the 2 more good years it gave him. He was diagnosed with cancer on June 20. We are thankful he did not suffer long. Dad is now at peace. We would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Beaverlodge Hospital who took very good care of him in the last few years, and especially in his last days. Those who will cherish every memory and miss him the most: his wife, Betty, children and grandchildren, Richard & Candace, Carrissa, Taylor, Amanda, Ashley, Kelsie of Grande Prairie; David & Jody, Kiara, Chance, Jordan of Rycroft; Ruth & Dwane, Avery, Noah of Sexsmith; Joyce of Beaverlodge. 4 brothers and 6 sisters: Wayne & Olive, Paul & Eileen, Denver, Katherine & Hardy, Irvin & Virg, Vivian & Clement, Dorothy, Viola & Maynard, Lorraine & Doug, Ethel & Louis.
